The Mary, Help of Christians Sodality was founded over 80 plus years ago by the Salesian Sisters at St. Michael's Church.  Its purpose was to foster the devotion toward our Blessed Mother under the title "Mary, Help of Christians" and toward the Blessed Sacrament.  We continue that devotion to our Blessed Mother today by reciting the rosary together at each of our meetings and participating in the May Crowning at Our Lady Star of the Sea Regional School.  As a group we receive Holy Communion together on the last Sunday of April followed by a Communion breakfast. Our devotion to the Blessed Sacrament continues when we participate in the Mass for the Solemnity of St. Michael the Archangel and receive the Blessed Sacrament together as a group.

We financially help Our Lady Star of the Sea Regional School, Adelaide's Place, "Secret Santa," Christmas in July for the Christmas toy distribution and the Easter basket distribution.  Funds are generated for these beneficiaries through various activities.  One of our major fund raisers is the annual Penny Auction held in April.  We will also hold a Flea Market in the spring, Pig Roast in July, and Pasta Night in October.  The proceeds of these events help to support our charities.  Members visit the area nursing homes at Christmas and Easter.

Mary, Help of Christians also has a scholarship which is presented each June to a young woman graduating from high school who meets the academic and community service requirements.  She will have an affiliation to Mary, Help of Christians.

Our meetings are held on the fourth Friday of each month at Quaremba Hall at 15 N. Georgia Avenue.  We begin the meeting with the recitation of the rosary at 12:30 PM. in St. Michael's Church at 10 N. Mississippi Avenue.  We invite the women parishioners of the Parish of St. Monica and friends to join us at our meetings.
