Black Catholic Ministry

One of the original Atlantic City parishes, Old St. Monica’s, was founded by Mother Emma Lewis (1869-1921) to minister to Catholics of African descent. This ministry continues as part of the citywide Parish of Saint Monica. It is led by Fr. Jon, pastor, and the Black Catholic Leadership Ministry (BCLM). Its annual signature event is the Mother Emma Lewis Awards Dinner.
