The pastoral care of a parish is primarily entrusted by the bishop to the pastor with the cooperation of parochial vicars and deacons. The Pastoral Council assists the pastor in fostering pastoral activity, especially by writing pastoral plans. These plans explain what we hope to accomplish in terms of pastoral activity. In June 2016, the council approved a five-year pastoral plan for July 2016 through June 2020.
Each year at our Annual Parish Meeting, two people are elected to serve three-year terms. Then the pastor appoints six others to serve one-year terms. Thus the council comprised twelve members, half elected and half appointed. The goal of appointments is to ensure a group as truly representative of the parish as possible. Assigned parochial vicars and deacons, as well as parish trustees, are always able to attend PC meetings, and the parish secretary serves to record and share meeting minutes.
